Attendance

Attendance includes instruction and activities that happen online with teachers as well as assigned learning that students do on their own without their teacher.

Students will be expected to participate in 100% of their daily virtual class to be considered present.

We understand that there are times when it is not possible for students to have their cameras on for the entire virtual class, however, students are expected to have their cameras on the whole time. This helps your child’s teacher know if your child is engaged in their learning and understanding what is being taught.

If your child is not able to attend any online classes for any reason, please contact your teacher to discuss options to keep your child on track with their learning.

If your child will be absent from class, please let the school know by entering excused absences through ParentVUE. If you are unable to use ParentVUE to notify us, please call our office. You will select the prompt to leave a message with the absence information for your student. The school clerk will log this information for you. You won't receive a call back to confirm this information but you will be able to see it in ParentVUE. 

You can now use the ParentVUE app on your phone, tablet, device, or computer to check your child’s daily attendance.

Attendance and Tardy Policy, 2026-2027 (Updated August, 2026)

Attendance includes instruction and activities that happen online with teachers. Teachers will log student attendance daily, in accordance with APS policy.

• Attendance present: is defined as a student being present until dismissed by the teacher. Students will be marked tardy if they show up late.  Whole class sessions and small group meetings are MANDATORY for ALL STUDENTS regardless of coursework pacing.
  • Middle School - attendance will be taken by period and submitted the same day. 
  • Elementary School - Attendance will be taken for the day.  Students must be present for more than 50% of their scheduled meets to be marked present for the day.  Every scheduled Meet will be counted. (Specials, morning meeting, small group, whole group, individual conference.) Please visit our website to view elementary school schedules.
• Small Groups -These meets are required and attendance will be taken. 
• Tardies: tardy means when a student arrives at any school day or class period after the bell rings indicating the start of class or school day. A student who arrives after 51 percent of the period/school day has occurred will be counted as absent.
