About Online School

Thank you for considering eCADEMY K8 for the 2023-2024 school year.

We want you to have the information you need to make the right choice for your child and family. This checklist will help you decide if full time online school is the right fit. "Is Online School the Right Fit"

• Daily attendance for online work is required. 
• Parents need to be willing to partner with staff in support of their student(s). 
• Appropriate electives for middle school will be offered, but will not be an exhaustive list. Elective requests in middle school are not guaranteed.
• Engagement by both parent and student will be important to gain as much learning as possible within the virtual learning environment. 
• Some limitations may exist in a virtual learning environment. 
• An adult family member, or Learning Coach, must be present to support and supervise student all day. 
• eCADEMYK8 staff is not responsible for medical care for a student who is learning from home. This is the responsibility of the parent or guardian. All applicable medical or health plans will be followed if school staff are supervising the student in-person for testing.

• Students are expected to be online from 8:05 to 3:05 each school day. Teachers will provide appropriate breaks as needed, including three 10 minute 'recess' periods for K-5 students. All students have a 30 minute lunch each day. 
• Families are expected to provide all meals and snacks for students. 
• The following are the only in-person requirements for students at eCADEMYK8: 1)Registration at the eCADEMYK8 office including pick up of materials and laptop; 2)Any mandated state or district testing that is not allowed to be done at home. 

• Delivered through Edgenuity Learning Management System online programming
• Synchronous learning with a New Mexico certified teacher
• Small group social and academic time
• Weekly 'specials' for K-5 students including Library, Music, Art, and PE 

• Same teacher-to-student ratio as a brick and mortar school
• Adequate small group and individual instruction for learning support and enrichment
