We have been offering our Dragon Lair Cafes to help families better navigate this virtual learning environment and offer topics we believe will be beneficial to families as a resource.  We would like the topic of our next Dragon Lair Cafe to directly reflect the interests of our families.  If you would like to submit a topic, please fill out this short form.

Testing Next Week

Testing will begin April 27th and will continue until May 4th with days, times, and subjects varying by grade level. Please look for communications sent by your student's teacher for details on the schedules for testing days.

Inclusion

Inclusion is the practice of including all individuals, regardless of their level of ability, in the learning community. The aims of inclusion are to secure opportunities for all students to learn alongside each other in general education classrooms with a focus on equal access to education for all students. This allows for the focus of education to be on the students’ abilities, not disabilities. Inclusion allows for all students to become accepting and understanding of one another’s talents, ideas, needs, personalities, and abilities. Inclusion in schools helps to foster a climate of acceptance, understanding, and respect.

eCADEMY K8 Social

Media

eCADEMY K8 has staked its claim in the social media worlds of Twitter and YouTube. We are looking forward to taking advantage of both of these platforms to share successes and connect with families.  Our Twitter account will be used as a supplement to the official communications that are sent out to families via Schoolmessenger and Synergy and will never contain critical information shared through these channels.  However, we do hope to Tweet out celebratory notes or helpful reminders for families.  If you don't use Twitter, no worries.  If you do, follow us @ecademyk8 .  

We have also established our channel on YouTube and moved our previous Dragon Lair Cafe videos to this new channel. Please subscribe to our channel and click the notification bell so you will get notified when we go live or when we post new videos or video announcements (coming soon).

For new Kinder families enrolling for the Fall.

Take a look at our calendar to find more information about our Kinder Roundup.  This live interactive online event is scheduled for Wednesday April 28th at 4PM and is intended to help inform new or potential families about what our online Kinder program looks like. 

If you know a family who is considering online learning for their Kinder student, please let them know about this event by sharing this page or this flyer. Our kinder teachers are excited to share their plans for next year, answer questions, and help parents prepare for next year.  Watch and share the following video presentation from our kinder teachers and students.

Story Time

The Tiempo de Cuentos website was created as an enrichment resource for families and teachers who have students who are interested in listening to fun stories in Spanish or in both Spanish and English. Listening to stories is a great way for students to broaden their vocabulary, improve their listening, literacy, and socioemotional skills while learning about different cultures. Whether students are learning Spanish or English as a second language, there are a number of exciting stories at different reading levels to choose from.

Families, please do not hesitate to reach out to your student's teacher, counselor, or dean if you have any questions during this final quarter of the 20-21 school year.  These final months can be busy and filled with activity, but it is not the time to let communications fizzle out.  Whether by email or by phone, we want to hear from you!
