Vol. 2 Issue 5 - March 14, 2022
The 3rd Quarter grading window is now closed. Quarter grades for Middle School students are now posted in ParentVUE and Elementary report cards will be posted soon. With that in mind, this final quarter of the year offers an opportunity to get a fresh start. Now is a great time to recommit to academic success and set new goals.
We need to hear from you! We need to know if you intend to return to eCADEMY K8 for the 22-23 academic school year. Linked below you will find the 22-23 Intentions Form. Filling out this form will give you an opportunity to let us know if you are returning next year. This is vital information for scheduling purposes as our enrollment and scheduling teams build our master schedule.
Please take a moment to fill out the form. No need to fill it out twice; just once would be fantastic!!!
Have you scheduled a conference with your teacher yet? Please revisit your email and ParentVUE messages for invites to schedule your Parent Teacher Conference. If you can't find an invite to schedule, please visit your classroom teacher's website for more information or reach out and request a time directly. As always, email, ParentVUE messages and phone calls are the school sanctioned communication channels.
Attendance is incredibly important, for both in-person learning AND remote learning. In middle school, students are expected to attend their synchronous meets by showing up on time and staying for the full duration of the meet. During asynchronous days, please follow the expectations of your teachers to be marked present. In elementary, students are expected to attend every meet that they are scheduled for during the day, including their specials classes.
Beyond attending synchronous meets, students need to spend their independent learning time completing tasks in Edgenuity and work assigned by their teachers. The school day is scheduled from 8:30 to 3 daily.
Finally, ParentVUE is the official communication channel of eCADEMY K8. While it may be supplemented by other systems like Gmail and Chat, important messages are being sent via ParentVUE messages and families are expected to login regularly. Don't miss important information and make sure to log in regularly via the web or mobile apps.
"Chronic absence — missing 10 percent or more of school days due to absence for any reason—excused, unexcused absences and suspensions, can translate into students having difficulty learning to read by the third-grade, achieving in middle school, and graduating from high school." - Attendanceworks
While our eCADEMY Dragon community is filled with attendance success stories, we are also facing some pretty serious challenges. Currently, nearly one third, 530 students, are categorized as chronically absent and 266 of those are missing 20% or more of school. We understand that many families are facing many challenges, but now is always the best time to recommit to attending class regularly and we are here to help if we can. If your family is facing obstacles to regular attendance, please reach out and let us know. Contact your grade level counselor and let's see if there is something we can do to help.
Published School Attendance Data
This spring, the PED is requiring that we proctor the state proficiency tests in person. Please make sure to visit our news article on the subject for more information. Our communications team is currently working on a permanent FAQ page for testing and will announce its publication when it is ready. For now, our testing coordinators are working tirelessly to make sure that this year's testing season is as minimally disruptive as possible. We thank you in advance for your patience.
It has been one tumultuous year and we want to thank you for sticking with us through the twists and turns. Now that we have a little breathing room, we are ready to welcome a PTO to our community. When the year began, we reached out looking for families that might be interested and would like to do so again. If you would like to help us establish and grow a PTO here at eCADEMY K8, please email Vincent Montoya. We look forward to connecting with you.
Join our Principals for a cup of coffee and a chat, virtually of course. Take a look at our calendar for scheduled times.
We apologize, but due to unforeseen circumstances, we need to reschedule this distribution. Please keep an eye out for updates.
Please do not miss this important distribution for 2nd-5th grade students once it is rescheduled. We are proud of the hard work our specials teachers put into making sure our students have a well rounded education and these supplies are essential for upcoming lessons. If needed, please feel free to send a friend or family member to make the pickup on your behalf.
Please remember that every student is expected to attend their specials classes as scheduled. Our teachers are excited to engage your student but can only do so if they attend regularly. We are counting on learning coaches at home for support with making sure students don't miss a moment of class time. Thank you for all your efforts.
We invite you to take a moment to answer our school’s Quality of Education and Title I Family Engagement Survey 2022. Your answers will be used to make sure we are doing our best to support our students to learn. Please only respond once per student.
Thank you.
We are looking for sponsors to provide prizes for our 8th graders to be given away after our 8th grade Carnival on May 21st and as prizes in our Family Engagement Google Classroom. Please reach out to Vincent Montoya directly if you think you could donate items that would work well as student prizes. Some ideas include, a free donut if you own a donut shop, an hour of bowling if you own a bowling lane, gift certificates to your business or even gift cards to another local business. We are open to creative ideas.
Thank you to our first sponsor who donated digital Amazon gift cards. They are recognized on our Sponsors page.
Families, please do not hesitate to reach out to your student's teacher, counselor, or dean if you have any questions during this final quarter of the 21-22 school year. These final months can be busy and filled with activity, but it is not the time to let communications fizzle out. Whether by email or by phone, we want to hear from you!
Our main office number is (505) 816-9550. Please visit our Administrative Contact Page to reach our school Admin and Staff. Linked names will open a website dedicated to that staff member and may contain additional contact information. The envelope will open a contact form that will send out an email. If a phone number is listed, please feel free to dial them directly. And finally, all staff at eCADEMY K8 can be reached via the mobile ParentVUE app.
Logging into ParentVUE regularly is important for all families. In ParentVUE, you will find Attendance data for your student, and Absence Reporting button, Grades (Middle School), and finally, communications from teachers. While you may get a copy of school emails to your email inbox, you may also be receiving many other emails there as well. Your ParentVUE messages inbox will only have communications related to your student and their education. If you have been locked out of your ParentVUE account or have lost your password and are unable to reset it, please call in on our main number and we can help.
eCADEMY K8 has staked its claim in the social media worlds of Twitter and YouTube. We are looking forward to taking advantage of both of these platforms to share successes and connect with families. Our Twitter account will be used as a supplement to the official communications that are sent out to families via Schoolmessenger and Synergy and will never contain critical information shared through these channels. However, we do hope to Tweet out celebratory notes or helpful reminders for families. If you don't use Twitter, no worries. If you do, follow us @ecademyk8 .
We have also established our channel on YouTube and moved our previous Dragon Lair Cafe videos to this new channel. Please subscribe to our channel and click the notification bell so you will get notified when we go live or when we post new videos or video announcements (coming soon).
