Dragon Lair Cafe

We have been offering workshops for families to better navigate the this virtual learning environment, as well as offering topics we believe will be beneficial to families as a resource.  Our next Dragon Lair Cafe will be live streamed at 6:00 PM, on February 2nd. This Special Edition of our Dragon Lair Cafe will feature two specific digital tools, Snap&Read and Co-Writer, that assist all students with accessing digital content. 

After School Clubs 

Starting new in semester 2.... an after school club, just for you!  We now have several options to choose from and club leaders are anxious to hear from and meet with interested students.  Students and families should take a look at out Clubs and Activites page for more information.  Students, if you find a club that you are interested in, visit the club's website and sign up.  If you need more information, send the club leader a message.  Feel free to use your APS Gmail account, StudentVUE messages or, click on the envelope next to the teacher's name on our website's contact us page. 

Elementary Art/Music

Art and Music are important content areas for your elementary student and participation in scheduled Meets is expected. Please make sure that your students are not missing out on these important classes that build your student's cognitive and creative abilities. 

MUSIC - Instruments have been made available for students and were included in the Edgenuity binder distribution in early January.  We followed up with an extended distribution to ensure that students had access to instruments. Our passionate Music teachers can't wait to see your student in class with their new instrument.

ART - Our art teachers have been patiently waiting for their art supplies and they are finally in!  We are organizing an art supplies distribution and will have more information posted to our calendar and shared by our art teachers.

eCADEMY K8 Social

Media

eCADEMY K8 has staked its claim in the social media worlds of Twitter and YouTube. We are looking forward to taking advantage of both of these platforms to share successes and connect with families.  Our Twitter account will be used as a supplement to the official communications that are sent out to families via Schoolmessenger and Synergy and will never contain critical information shared through these channels.  However, we do hope to Tweet out celebratory notes or helpful reminders for families.  If you don't use Twitter, no worries.  If you do, follow us @ecademyk8 .  

We have also established our channel on YouTube and moved our previous Dragon Lair Cafe videos to this new channel. Please subscribe to our channel and click the notification bell so you will get notified when we go live or when we post new videos or video announcements (coming soon). 

Family Interest Survey

Can you believe it is already February?  Time sure flies!  Before you know it, this school year will end and, in August, a new one will begin. With all that in mind, we are very interested in your intention to return to us next year.  We have been working hard to provide the best education experience possible and hope that we are meeting your expections, but we also know that there are many factors that will be guiding your decision.  An interest survey will be going out by the end of the week and we would be grateful if you would take a moment respond.  Please keep an eye out for that email. 8th Grade Student News

eCADEMY High School, College and Career High School and Early College Academy have all scheduled presentations for our 8th graders. Our sister school, eCADEMY HS presented first on January 21st and, unfortunately, we missed out on recording the session.  If you would like to learn more about eCADEMY HS or have questions, please visit their website.  College Career High School presented on January 28th and a recording of their presentation is linked here.  Our next presentation will feature Early College Academy and it is scheduled for this Thursday at 2 PM.  The Google Meet link for the event will be shared on the day of the event.

Communication

Teachers will be working on their website, and on a communication plan, which will be posted on their website.  We understand mutual communication can be a great challenge in a completely virtual environment, but it is a critical element in finding educational success for your children.  To that end, we want to be sure families know where they can look to find each of their teacher’s communication plan, so it doesn’t become a bigger barrier.  Please continue to look for these updates, teachers are making these additions each day. 

Additionally, we know reaching the office and a live person has been far more difficult than it should be, so we have been working diligently to ensure families are able to reach the school staff needed.  The main office number is (505) 816-9550.  Please visit our Administrative Contact Page to reach us school Admin and Staff.  Linked names will open a website dedicated to that staff member and may contain additional contact information.  The envelope will open a contact form that will send out an email.  If a phone number is listed, please feel free to dial them directly. And finally, all staff at eCADEMY K8 can be reached via the mobile ParentVUE app.
