Attendance includes instruction and activities that happen online with teachers as well as assigned learning that students do on their own without their teacher.

Students will be expected to participate in 100% of their daily virtual class to be considered present.

We understand that there are times when it is not possible for students to have their cameras on for the entire virtual class, however, students are expected to have their cameras on the whole time. This helps your child’s teacher know if your child is engaged in their learning and understanding what is being taught.

If your child is not able to attend any online classes for any reason, please contact your teacher to discuss options to keep your child on track with their learning.

If your child will be absent from class, please let the school know by entering excused absences through ParentVUE.  If you are unable to use ParentVUE to notify us, please call in at (505) 816-9550.

You can now use the ParentVUE app on your phone, tablet, device, or computer to check your child’s daily attendance.

Our Data

While our eCADEMY Dragon community is filled with attendance success stories, we are also facing some pretty serious challenges. As of March 14th, 2022, nearly one third, 530 students, are categorized as chronically absent and 266 of those are missing 20% or more of school.  We understand that many families are facing many challenges, but now is always the best time to recommit to attending class regularly and we are here to help if we can.  If your family is facing obstacles to regular attendance, please reach out and let us know.  Contact your grade level counselor and let's see if there is something we can do to help.

Published School Attendance Data

Attendance Policy Update (10/18/21) - current)

  • Synchronous attendance present: is defined as a student being present in all assigned google meet(s) for each day for 100% of each meet time until dismissed by the teacher. Students will be marked tardy if they show up late.  Synchronous class sessions and small group meetings are MANDATORY for ALL STUDENTS regardless of coursework pacing.
    • Middle School - Synchronous attendance will be taken by period and submitted the same day. Please visit our schedules page to view the synchronous schedule.
    • Elementary School - Synchronous attendance will be taken for the day.  Students must be present for more than 50% of their scheduled meets to be marked present for the day.  Meets are scheduled every day and every scheduled Meet will be counted. (Specials, morning meeting, small group, whole group, individual conference.) Please visit our schedules page to view elementary school schedules.

Asynchronous (Middle School Only)

  • Asynchronous attendance present - To be marked present for an asynchronous day, a student must log into Edgenuity during the school day and open at least one activity in a course to be marked present for that course. When a student opens a course in Edgenuity and opens an activity, the system will log this activity and this log will be used to take attendance for that course.  This action must be completed by 2 PM to allow the teacher to take attendance for the day. Attendance will be entered no later than 5PM for the current school day. *This is only a requirement for attendance purposes.  Students are expected to work for the entirety of asynchronous days and only access school related content during the day, regardless of their pacing in Edgenuity.

Small Groups (all grades)

  • These meets are required and attendance will be taken. Please see individual teachers’ websites for large and small group assignments. Middle School students will be scheduled for small groups via Google Calendar and will  be marked absent on asynchronous days if they do not attend their small group.

Attendance recording in Synergy

  • Attendance information will be recorded in ParentVUE using synchronous and/or asynchronous data from the current day.  All attendance will be recorded prior to 5PM each day.
Importance of Attendance
Chronic Absence

"Across the country, more than 8 million students are missing so many days of school that they are academically at risk. Chronic absence — missing 10 percent or more of school days due to absence for any reason—excused, unexcused absences and suspensions, can translate into third-graders unable to master reading, sixth-graders failing subjects and ninth-graders dropping out of high school."  — Attendance Works
